If you play the game on Dark Difficulty, you can access three exclusive outfits that when worn, make Geralt into some sort of unstoppable killing machine who's 50% Batman, 50% Superman, 50% Conan the Barbarian, and 100% Bad Ass.
You cannot access these outfits (which include three unique steel swords and three unique silver swords) on any other difficulty level, and if you change difficulties mid-play, these items are destroyed.

Version 2.1 Released
v2.1 changes: -> container bug (not being able to pick up dark items) fixed; -> Dark weapons without dark effects by Remadan included; -> alchemy tree fully developed from level 1 + 2 talent points every level up (requested); OLD 1st of all a bit of a background: I've learned C/C++ in july so that's why I made mistakes and the reason behind me failing to see the 2.0 solution before. But I got it. v2: - No more level checks! The new check system: + Dark item found in Geralt Inventory? - Yes (nothing happens) - No (missing item(s) added) Optional: FCR Compatibility Patch - self-explanatory, without this the main file wont work as intended when using FCR. Optional Version: v1.2.1 - Dark Items will be added at lvl 13 also (Untested*, but its logic so it should be fine) *If you use this version post your feedback please v1.2 changes: - v1.1 was making Geralt lvl 2 times every levelup (stupid mistake) 1.1 changes: - Level check when adding dark items;* - Medallion timer reduced to 1 sec; - Exit Combat timer reduced to 2 secs; - Training Tree unlocked at level 1; *I can remove this easily if anyone wants it, just ask* *How: I added a level check before adding dark items. They are only added to your inventory at lvl1 and never again. Changes: - Unlocks Dark Items for use in all Difficulty levels not just Dark Mode - Dark Items are added to your inventory when you start a new game Important Note: I've searched for a few hours and found a way to make this happen but there is a small issue. The Dark Items are added to your inventory every time you enter in-game, new game or not. As far as I could tell there's no way to avoid this. This is, however, a small issue since you can just vendor it. Recommended Mods: Remove Dark Mode Visual Effects by dragonbird (Dark items effect get old really fast) Weight Watchers by FatherAzerun (This will help to minimize the problem I mentioned above)
I enjoy a decent level of challenge in my games, but my priority has always been having fun and seeing the story, over choosing the most challenging mode/game. That being said, The Witcher 2 has hooked me. Yes, I have it on the xbox 360 and I've beaten it once on normal. I loved it and immediately wanted to jump back in making a different decision in the prologue, Chapter I, etc. and see everything this game has to offer. This made Dark Mode a pretty appealing option for me. I figured I didn't struggle in my first play through on normal..in fact I only died a handful of times, mostly at the beginning of the game when I didn't understand the necessity of preparing with potions and using items such as bombs and traps. So being the brave soul I am, I started my Dark run yesterday and just got to Flotsam. I am definitely noticing a jump in difficulty over normal, but it isn't anything too severe so far. I mean, enemies can definitely kill me in a couple hits..I even died the instant I walked into a campfire by accident.. but overall it seems that if I use the skills from my first play-through and stay patient, it should be doable.
SO my question to you guys and gals that have done a Dark Mode run, would just be any advice and such. I figured I should get the special armor sets in each chapter, so I already have most of the blasphemer's outfit diagrams, and other than that I'm approaching it as my last play through, which may or may not be my best bet. Advice in areas like skill point allocation, combat tactics, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks duders!
